Prelude engine... pumping oil
I'm presently looking foward to buy a car soon, I'm actually debating on the Prelude or the RSX Type S.
Now many people mention me about the prelude having oil consumption problem. Now, I hear that from many people that have a prelude. Does that mean that the engine will need to be rebuilt on the long run??? it would boring to add oil all the time...
Is The RSX a better car (as in reliability)?

honestly i was going thru the same situation a few weeks ago tryin 2 decide between the two cars. Although the rsx-s is a newer car and w/ advancements in technology the car probablly is a little better dependability wise but in my personal opinion the prelude has a more presteigious looks/feel compared 2 the rsx + the rsx is a dime-a-dozen type of car, once again imo. I say go with the car you like best beacuse both are quite dependable, both have good power potential, and they are simply dependable hondas but thats for you 2 decide.. hope this helps..... B ez
i love my h22 but the k20a2 is a very capable engine, as it stands now...my h22 on a good day can edge out a well driven stock type-s by about a car if that. they are very fast if you know how to drive them, and add DC5-R cams+hondata and it gets even more interesting.
its a very solid motor
id agree with jimmy, get what u like better. yes h22a's especially FRM lined blocks, tend to consume oil, mine consumes about 1QT between changes, but i do beat the piss out of it, and it now has 70k since the rebuild...70k of absolute abuse and deep city driving.

, actually I currently am running Mobile 1 5w30 in my H22a4 which has 140k miles on it, still only loses a tad less than 1 qt. in between changes.Moral of the story: The H22 oil consumption is not a problem, its just something that happens, it wont effect the engine's ability to be one heck of a power house.
Get a Prelude

I have 105k on mine, and it consumes the same amount now as it did at 25k. In fact, you will only burn oil when you hit VTEC hard. I paid close attention through three oil change cycles for this specific purpose...... on the first cycle, I didn't hit VTEC once, and every time I checked the oil when I gas up (that's when I check it always), it was always very close to where I filled it. On the second change, I hit VTEC hard alot, and had to use almost a quart and a half throughout the cycle. And on the third change, I didn't hit VTEC at all, and again, not a drop was burned.
Believe me, if there was a problem with any vital part of the engine, you could not control how and when the oil burns.
