Prelude engine... pumping oil
Yeah, do remember, in order to be in VTEC you have to hit about 5500 rpms, and if you're hitting it hard and taking it to 7k I would certainly expect a little bit of oil blow by, its just the way Honda designed it, when I drive I typically dont hit VTEC unless I am passing someone. I almost never lose any oil, I'm very easy on my car though.
Only lose the almost 1 qt. if I'm constantly hanging in VTEC....

7k?
i take mine to 8500, usually only once a week, because every time its scary as hell.
i imagine it sounds similiar to the world ending.
most of the time i dont rev it past stock 7500 redline.

You can take it to red line all day if you want...... these engines were tested at 10 grand during R&D.
If you have good lubrication and haven't messed with the internals much, the H22A is really a bullet proof engine at any speed.
Oh, BTW, once you are in VTEC, the engine will pull strong all the way past redline, up to the rev limiter
