so what does those bastard cylinders do anyway ? and which one is slave ?? the one near the clutch pedal or the other one ?

the slave cylinder is attached to the tranny housing and actuates the release fork which releases the pressure plate thru the throwout bearing.

as a general rule of thumb, you should replace both your master and your slave cylinder when either goes out.

So ludeboom if the cylinders start leaking shouldnt that affect pressure on the clutch plates ??

yes and you wont be able to put it in gear

I am talking about if its leaking but is till kept topped up...how will that affect clutching...wil pressure n the clutch be released....coz i hv a feeling its not releasing th clutch fst enuf when shifting gears...\

if u keep the level up and the leak isnt too big then u can use the clutch, but if its leaking alot then the clutch will slowly come in even when your holding it out, like in traffic or at a stop sign.

hey... i had a 87 integra and it moved fast because of the light weight and the gearing. give your car a proper tune up and it should run better. change oil, tranny fluid, spark plugs, air filter, and if possible fuel filter.

as for you clutch situation, u can have a worn clutch and the system never got serviced in a long time. that can make your clutch feel like its not grabbing fast enough due to air in the lines, worn clutch disc, etc.

once you have air in the clutch lines, it can affect performance of you car.
