Okay. First, considering the age of the car, just have the rotors replaced. Second, the question of "my H23 isn't as fast as it should be, what could be up) Is WWAAAYYY too broad of a question. It could be thousands of things.

Hi i think my clutch master and slave cylinders are leaking...what effect does that have on the clutch even though if the clutch flyuid is kept topped up....???
are they expensive to replace...??? can one replace themselves ? what would cause it to leak ??? can i get tjose parts off wreckers/junk yard or they have to be new ??

thanks

if they run dry then u will pump air into the system, but at that point you will lose your ability to clutch the tranny. you wont be able to put it in gear.
slave cylinders run $30 by me. master cylinders depend...

slave cylinder is on front of tranny near radiator.

Hi,

what effect does that have on the clutch even though if the clutch flyuid is kept topped up....??? Will it loose pressure or something ? resulting in clutch releasing slowly or something ? what is the purpose of the master and slave cylinder ?? I am experiencing if the clutch doesnt release as quickly as it shd.

thanks fer the help

if u get air in the line it will prevent you from releasing the clutch.
but if u keep filling it up it will work since its hydraulic and the reservoir is not pressurized. as long as air doesnt get compressed thru the master cyl....ie the clutch fluid drops below the piston of the master cyl.

remember: the clutch is normally engaged...so if u lose your hydraulic system due to air or slave/master cylinder failure...it will prevent u from entering a gear (like 1st). BUT u can still put the car in gear when the engine is NOT running.

[copyrighted boomer lesson]
if u lose the clutch...u will have to start the car in 1st gear, and shift without the clutch...this involves reving up the current gear to lets say 5000, then popping it into neutral and then the next gear quickly enough to catch where your wheel speed matches your engine RPM. This depends on the actual gear ratio for each gear.

but it isnt hard...just put mild pressure on the shifter pulling or pushing toward the gear you want to go UP to. when the ratio's line up between MPH and engine RPM the synchro will "suck" the shifter into gear. this is assuming you are putting a mild amount of pressure on the shifter while doing all of this.

good luck
