I would have to say it is one of the best. Considering I had an LS1 v-8 before it really impressed me that it was only a four cylinder. And the vtec kicks ass.

Eh, it's not anything to write home about. I guess you can modify it if you want, but that's more of an engine for a family sedan...... read "Altima 2.5"...... that translates into "family sedan".

on a personal note: i think its a piece of shit
on a mechanical note: i think its a piece of shit

i have no respect for that motor whether its the overrated SpecV or the "family sedan" version in the alty.
either way, how well balanced could a 2.5 liter crank be?

i have an "aquaintance" with a 2002 Spec V, and he recently blew his motor...being who he is, as in he claims to know 1000% more about engines than he actually does, i cant put any stock in what he tells me...
but he did blow his motor and he said he threw a rod.
the motor had around 20k on it, and he was lucky enough to have nissan replace it for free.
No nos, no ecu mods, just I/H/E
and he blew his motor reving it out.

so if its a well built engine than why would it blow up from hitting revlimit?

i revlimit my car every day for the last 70k miles since i rebuilt the motor and i dont have any problems.
