Default r32 isnt all its cracked 2 be

I just moved back 2 hondas after a bad exsperience w/ the dubbs. I had a 02 GtI 1.8t w/ aem intake, apr turboback, n75, revo chip, and audi s4 injectors and i would smoke those R32's on the highway w/ great ease. Although its a beautiful car i personally dont think its worth 30G's or the respect of being compared to the EVO or STI. W/ that HPA turbo kit added on tho it will be doing 11's in the 1/4 and would tear sum poor supras doors off off the line

another added comment about the R32 it has the same 100-0 as the porsche 911 GT2, and has a Awsome quattro wanna be system that can give a tourqe ratio of 35% front-to-65% Rear which makes that back end rip down like its got a fukin jumbo jet attached to the back

actually, the R32 uses the Haldex AWD system, which is FWD until sensors detect wheel slip, and then engages the rear wheels to compensate. i don't think that's anything like the STi variable center diff, and i don' think you'll be seeing "mAd FiShTaIL AcTioN" with it.

The R32 is a nice car, i like the way it looks, and it's probably pretty fast considering how heavy it is, but if racing were my only concern, i'd look elsewhere. it is nice that it is a hatchback and more practical than other cars, but it's also a VW, so some things are gonna go wrong with it...silly little things...

newer VW's are not good handling cars. the current MKIV is a fat pig with tons of body roll and weird suspension geometry that limits how much you can lower the car without negatively affecting handling. at 3050 lbs for a 1.8T, they're not light either. New VW's are at home in car shows, not the race track. any stock lude will severely hand a MKIV its ass in any sort of corner.

that being said, the R32 is pretty, and i'd buy one if it was a tad bit cheaper.

But to each his own. Enjoy your VW. I'm sure it really holds tight in the twisties. That's one thing they are renowned for.
I'll jump back in on this since I've had the R32 for a while now. First, I considered the Accord Coupe, but I couldn't stand to look at the thing. Too bulbous looking to me. I also considered Acuras (no dealer nearby), and the Civic SI, but I read where it won't be made next year. The WRX STi or the Evo would probably eat the R's lunch on pure acceleration, but I didn't buy it for that. This car is a "GT" car...you know, like a comfortable yet fast (relatively speaking) machine that's made for trips, backroads, whatever. I drove it to Birmingham for the AMA Superbike races a few weeks ago, 525 miles one way, and we weren't even tired when we got there and drove 75-80 mph all the way, and got a little over 25 mpg. My Prelude wasn't trouble-free, either. Shock knock in the winter, sunroof rattles, engine hesitation. So although I have no regrets with the VW, I hope when it's time is up that Honda has something sporty in their lineup again.

Glad you like your car man! Congrats we all will keep praying that we will someday see a rwd lude back on the market. I know with the prelude disappearing and being gone for almost 4 years that people would buy it up like mad. Honda had something good with the base and SH but it was just a lil pricey for a fwd car that's not real practical for families. You ever race a fth gen all out on the highway man? I think your r32 would lose!

Comparing the two, the R is much quicker, but the Prelude would take it in top speed. The VW is not aerodynamic, the Prelude is.

Other than the S2000, which I considered, no, there's nothing there that interests me. Hey, don't get me wrong, I LIKE Hondas, I've owned 'em since 1982. I had VW's up until then. Honda just doesn't have anything in their lineup that flips my switch.
