VTEC Controller
Im looking to buy a VTEC controller for my 5th gen. lude. I am wanting to know how much of a power boost i will get and will it lower any of my times and by how much. Last is it easy to install? or will i need to take it to someone.
I think you might be expecting too much from a VTEC controller... it's reasonably easy to install if you don't mind wiring things yourself and whatnot. How good are you at electronics?
As for power boost... none to little. Unless you're running a different-than-stock setup with a raised/lowered redline, where you would need to adjust the VTEC engagement. Honda's factory setting is pretty good as it is. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I've never heard of or met anyone who improved times by changing VTEC engagement alone.

Hey, who sells the controller you're lookin at? I looked at the one that A'Pexi has but it said it was for civics, unless there's really no difference, because VTEC is VTEC. And I don't think it would increase your time that much, if any. All it's doing is turning VTEC on a little earlier than factory spec, it'll help out a little, but nothin too extreme.

Thanks, ive been looking at JDM VTEC controllers and the APEX'i VFAC system. also, is it easy to install or should i have someone do it... (Don't know that much about electronics, just bought the car..)
also, ok to get a used controller? apexi is what im looking at, and i want to buy this one...
"used Jdm APEXi VAFC VTEC and Air Flow Controller Converter . It is in 100% Perfection working condition.it has a couple minor blemishes"

Appreciate the info Snoopy  and Fly, I'm not too sure about a used one, personally, if i get the controller, I'm gettin it new or from someone I know personally so I know what I'm in for.
Perhaps, but all VTEC does is open the cylinders more and lets in more air, I'm not sure exactly what kind of oil pressure you need in order to do this, but I don't think it's a big deal since it's not too much earlier than stock. I think the most you can mod it to is like 1000 rpms earlier (if that) to kick in.
