When it comes to install stuff on the engine i think that the best way to go is for the good parts cheap sometimes is not good, and
" just wrap the thing (intake) in heat tape" is just a little to ricer to my taste.

taking that idea even further, i wouldn't buy an EBAY turbo kit, or an EBAY exhaust header. but i'd buy an EBAY CAI. the turbo kit has lots of moving parts. the header is subjected to extremely high levels of heat. the intake is a pipe, with a filter on the end. notice a difference here?

the only people that give you credit for wasting money on certain car parts are people that have wasted the same money on the same parts. everyone else just kind of chuckles.

go that way if u wanna go rice that will be the last thing done to my car engin comes frst
not to sound like a dick, but something tells me that my suspension alone costs more than you will spend on your engine throughout the life of your car.

I don't understand you, Suspension? what kind of car you drive?? more that a "engine"? and the same time that you install a piece of pipe with filter with a heat tape you spend more that a engine mods?? with suspension?? as far as i know preludes have a extraordinary suspencion or maybe you a race your car in a track and you need a super hi-performance suspension so then i understand! anyway a AEM inatake (short) is just 150 on ebay which frankly i don't think is so expensive!
Good luck!

hazmat was making some smart remark on how my car is rice and how his "engine" comes first, but to tell you the truth, the 2,500 bucks i've dropped on suspension mods so far is prob more than most people will throw into their "built" motors...

the OE lude suspension is great. could it be better? of course. i don't throw money into the engine because a) i'm not a drag racer, and b) i think i have almost as much horsepower as i'll ever want to have in this car. there are competitive driving arenas outside of "drag racing" and "car shows" and these things don't put a premium or penalty on you if you have a $50 intake or a $300 intake.
