Default H22 vs H23 help

I noticed the h23 vtec cost more than a h22a and trying to figure our why. Which is the better engine cuz i always thoght the H22 was best in the H series. HAs anyone driven the h22 and theh23 vtec. Which one did you prefer.

the h22a is a better engine i think, but the h22a is probably easier to get then the h23 just because the h23 is an older engine

they are basically the same. they make the same power, the h23a vtec having a slight bit more displacement, and a slightly lower redline. h23a vtec costs more because of its rarity. only in 99+ accord wagons, where as h22's come in many cars.

Just a couple of questions...what do u plan on swapping the H-series engine into? Prelude? Accord? What type of vehicle you plan on swapping the engine into and what type of engine set-up you plan on running are determining factors. Let me know more of what your plans are for the engine, so I can better help answer your question.

I just talking about stock into a prelude 92-96. i think the h23 vteck is 160hp and h22 is 195. So i think the h22 would be best what do u think?

H23 VTEC is ~200hp. H23A1 is non-VTEC, 160hp.

there have been no less than "several" threads on this topic, and some of them have gotten pretty ugly.

as always i am a staunch supporter of the h22a/1 engine, the h23 vtec imo is not as reliable, not as revable and doesnt have as much NA potential as the h22a/1.

h22.

h22 was made for VTEC.

h23 was not. h23 is a great engine w/o VTEC. h22 is a great engine w/ VTEC.

Stock, Preludes don't come with h23 VTEC. I think there's a pretty good reason why Honda only used the h23 VTEC in one car... didn't do well.

:werd: I agree with boomer 100% on the h23vtec issue. That's why when i had the chance, I used my $$$ to swap an h22 in my lude, no questions asked. True, the h23 is a fun, stout engine, capable of unlimited TURBO possiblities...BUT, dollar for dollar the h22a is a better, more reliable, more capable engine. Plus, you don't see as many 4G VTEC ludes  You should let boomer build one for ya!!!
