Ok which one of you scumbags voted yes on Prop 8
AZ we defined marriage as between a man and a woman. there was a ballot question 2 years ago that extends benifits to partners, gay and straight. the question this year just defined what marriage is, so the best gays can hope to have is a civil union.
wow I didn't realize that this will nullify the existing gay marriage legalization in california. So the people who already got married earlier when it was legal, will now be nullified or will they still be counted as married?
Laws can't retroactively apply, so they'll be in a gray area, their marriage will still be valid though.
There's a part of me that feels badly for homosexuals in California that really love each other and would like to get married. Here in Utah, despite us Mormons everywhere, there are plenty of gay people that I've known and have been friends with. The love they share is probably the same as the love heterosexuals share.
Despite that, consider the situation of those who voted yes and may have been influenced by religion are in. Most of these people probably don't hate gays or wish to tell them what to do. You can refuse to believe that if you want, but comming from someone who is religious, I don't give a flying crap what anyone does, as long as it doesn't affect me. I believe this is the attitute of most Americans.
Most "religious" people probably voted yes because they feel it's their duty to whatever God they worship. Most religions view homosexuality as an abomination of God given reproductive privilages. Just like fornication and adultry. This is likely the reason they voted yes.
Funny thing is though, most people who voted yes probably aren't very religious. How many people in this country go to church anymore? 5%? 2%? How many of you go to church? How many of you even believe in God? I see so much blasphemy on this board I feel like I've got to do a few Hail Mary's when I'm done, and I'm not even Catholic. Either half of you are athiest or you're all going to hell.
Enough with the rant though. Most people that voted yes probably did because they felt it just doesn't seem right. The fact that they feel that way isn't necessarily religion. It could be due to our culture or the media or their upbringing or a host of other things.
Bottom line, think twice before taggin religion for the next big problem. Greed, prejudice, peer-pressure, fear of change, and about ten thousand other things are also a factor when something happens you don't like. And when religion does play into it, it isn't necessarily because religious people are a bunch of gay hating bible thumping zealots. Most are normal people that just happen to belive in some greater being than themselves.

Somebody show me in the bible where it mentions marriage!
Its just a piece of fawking paper people
I laugh at the"so called conseritives" with their panties in a bunch over prop 8
If you are really a true conseritive then this should not bother you.
To many people in this country are only conseritives when it's covenant for them.
