Congress has finally imploded.
If you haven't been keeping up lately, Congress has been spending a lot of time talking about prosecuting the New York Times for printing, uh, not much of anything, and apparently we're back to discussing making flag burning illegal.
What the hell is wrong with these idiots? Are we running out of legitimate problems? I can't help but notice that Social Security is still doomed, the borders are still a mess, and Osama bin Laden is still a free man. Isn't there anything more pressing that these assholes should be working on?
I'm tempted to place blame squarely on the jiggly shoulders of Karl Rove, and the shriveled testicles of Rush Limbaugh, but the truth is that the Democratic Party and obnoxious left-wing pundits are just as guilty as their counterparts on the other side of the aisle. Together, these attention whores and power-grabbing jerkoffs have lowered the level of debate in this country until its no longer recognizable as anything resembling governing or discourse.
Congress: fuck you. Stop now and get your asses back to work.
Pundits: fuck you more.

I do consider the leaking of ongoing intelligence gathering methods and the printing of them in the press a legitimate problem. And as much as I hate the Times I cannot fault them completely (and they were not the only ones to print this and others) for doing their job against better judgement. What concerns me, and is borderline treason, is the intelligence analysts, etc. that are leaking classified information in the first place. The leaking of this information may actually be hindering our pursuit of Bin Laden.
You are correct that the politically devisive atmosphere in Washington is prohibitive to getting anything done.

How about you stop and realize how many of our own men are out there fighting for us and dying...how about asking there opinion on burning flags and gay rights?...you throw them out there, you give them no sense of hope, no sense of ending this thing, no sense of reason for being there, and tell them our hottest topic on the congressional floor is burning a flag?
In 2003, we caught Saddam Hussein. Bush was right in 2003 when he said we won the war....yet they still call this a war 3 years later. It's no longer a war in Iraq. This is simply an occupation of Iraq.
And you on the right say certain individuals on the left want to "Cut and run"...just another talking point, but what is your solution? What is your plan? There is no plan? Are we simply going to stay forever? What is the plan?
...yet congress still debates politics and talking points inside of finding a plan of action. Democrats want a plan of action....what do the republicans want?

Finally? When was our government not screwed up? I love how bush just slipped in the Iraq war at a time when people would think it had to do with terrorism. I garantee there are still people out there who think the iraq war is all about anti-terrorism.

It's because the Republicans don't have any good issues to run on in this upcoming election. They already used up the gay marriage "issue" in 2004 so they're flailing around looking for a new distraction. I suspect Karl Rove's "cut and run" campaign is the fallback plan if they don't find anything else.

) in Iraq along with many other topics - I think you're on to something
Many people don't realize this but 80% of Fortune 500 companies have invested $billions in Dubai...Microsoft, IBM, Boeing, GE, you get the idea. Now why would all of these corporations invest in a little "Vegas stlye (if you will)" city ..? Not only is Dubai too small to support such an investment, but the UAE is too small of a country to be investing all of this time and money.
The future plans of the corporate west is to create an infrostructure that basically westernizes the middle east. Bush proposed the MEFTA a couple of years back. MEFTA, the Middle East Free Trade Agreement is what is fueling this war. The US has no time for Easterners that disagree with our policies and philosophies so they shove westernization down the middle easts throat. We are basically telling them to comply with the way how we do things or there is hell to pay...thus, creating angry groups of american hating individuals, terrorists, and fuel that could potentially set the stage to a world war.
Globalization is fine, but forcing it on societies that we don't understand and will never take the time to understand is not.
*Edit - If your interested in the 80% of Fortune 500 companies investing in the Middle East and MEFTA, click this link: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/13305309/
Eighty percent of Fortune 500 companies have at least some presence in Dubai. “They're not here for Dubai. Dubai is not big enough for them. ...
I'm working on multiple projects for a specific investor and have listened to a lot of what is really going on in the middle east from him and a local (R)congressman. We part severly as far as politics go, but it is interesting to have somewhat of an inside to our involvement in the Middle East.
