phew.. thanks, guys.
i'm really, really anal about how i apply stickers -- as seen in my loose optimus below, that i reapplied an entire repro kit to.
i know from the factory they tend to apply the stickers a little haphazardly, but that seemed a bit too much. guess not..
h:

those poor smoke stubs.. :chuckles:

And....here's my homework:
Top 3

How could you go wrong with this guy? He's flat out the best toy ever, and he even has the long smokestacks. Of course the trailer makes him complete. The only thing that would make him better is if he had a bookstyle flap so you could see him. Price paid: $135 shipped.

What can I say? Even Optimus loves this guy. I never had this guy as a kid, and he just looks badass in gun mode. We won't talk about robot mode. Price paid: $105 shipped.

Want to make a BT better? Add a driver. Packaging them in robot mode was also a nice adjustment from the regular BT's. Optimus gives him two thumbs up. Price paid: $55.02 shipped.
Bottom 3

Fucking Minibots. These bastards command way too much for what they are. Piece of crap toys of crappy characters, aside from Bumblebee. Optimus says thumbs down. Price paid: $34.69 shipped.

As great as BT's are...these are just a total rip. Four fucking Smokescreens??? (I only have two of the four) I'll give 'em the repaints like Meister and Tracks, but change the stupid numbers? And then "Smokescreen GT," fuck that shit. How about get it right the first time than have to redo it again? Or at least do it with just one number. Optimus shits on these guys. Price paid: $36.48 and $34.09 shipped.

Why the hell must they make so many Hot Rods? I mean, Hot Rod was awesome for 70 minutes in the movie, but then he became Rodimus Prime and was a huge pansy. Then he went back to being Hot Rod, and they threw a fugly gun on him that turns into a fugly robot, and he's a new toy. Maybe just sell the fugly gun separately? Man, I need to get into the toy business, because it's obviously lucrative....you pay a designer once, and that's ten toys. Optimus gives them not one, but two middle fingers. No one can replace him...especially a station wagon with flames on the sides.
Price paid: Rodimus Major: $25.50 shipped, Rodimus Prime: $8.48 at Tuesday Morning, Targetmaster Hot Rod: $22.98 shipped.

I've shown everyone in this thread an eBay link which lead to an eventual purchase. I'm so happy. :wtc:
Top 3, #3 ... eHobby Starscream

purchase price: $110 for the pair (October 05)
eBay price: $100 (black) $150 (clear)
These figures were my first e-Hobby purchases. I really do like them because the repaints actually serve a purpose. In the TF Movie, Galvatron returns to Jarr to see Starscream wearing a cape and crown ... soon after, he's killed. Before he turns into dust, Starscream fades to black. In the TV show, Starscream's ghost returns to take over Scourge's body.
Top 3, #2 ... reissue Minibots

purchase price: $15 (TFC, part of a lot BIN for $75 in Sept 05), $130 (eHobby, January 06)
eBay price: $100 (TFC) $300 (eHobby)
I'm going completely opposite than Eggy on these. Minibots > * ... These figures look great in the box and are all over the cartoon, you can't go wrong with these.
Top 3, #1 ... R.I.D. / Car Robots Scourge

purchase price: $20 (TF Board, January 06)
eBay price: $10 - $50 (Car Robots, Japan), $40-$50 (RID, USA)
This is the most underrated figure since G1. Scourge, often called Nemesis Prime, is a BLACK repaint of the G2 Battle Prime. In March, Battle Prime is being reissued by Takara and eHobby's Battle Magnus soon follows. This figure's value is set to sky rocket in the upcoming months.
Scourge first appeared in 2000, so finding one MISB might be a bit more difficult that you'd think
