This would be a really good idea. What may also work would be to drop in the RAV4's engine. I've never been in a RAV4, so I don't know if its smooth or a good engine or anything (although it can't be that bad)... but it's a 2.0l 148hp I4. I understand it's somewhat aged, but it's probably got the low end grunt these cars need.

the matrix wasn't too bad and had a lot more interior room (much higher car)...but it had terrible handling...the engine was impressive over 5k rpms but getting to that point in the heavier car was the hard part...the matrix is no sports wagon

the suzuki was too tall and not wide enough = tons of body roll...the engine was a blessing with its 140hp 2.0 that had some down low grunt...but it sounded thrashy...after driving and thinking about this car it was like a 2nd draft of a suzuki sports wagon but not a finished product

the civic si has a great engine...it was really surprising b/c it had seamless power everywhere in the rev band and didn't taper off until redline (only this engine and the matrix were like that [though the matrix's engine had nothing until you at least hit 4k rpms)...the si though had the crapiest eco tires and the worst faux aluminum interior with red stitching in the seats i've ever seen...the engine kept me coming back but the interior is what really scared me away (could always solve the tires probs w/ some 16"/17" $1000 rotas with some decent rubber)

the pr5 had the weakest top end but had decent down low torque (not a big fan of engines tuned for low end torque)...but its composed handling (i've driven it several times at the track now) put those other posers to pasture...the pr5 is a real compact ff sports wagon where the civic si was a go between with a great engine and the matrix/aerio sx were sporty mini-minivans
I'd love to see a P5 coupled with the MazdaSpeed turbo engine.

IMHO that is the most well rounded car you can get.

hit me up in a couple months...a stage 1 kit will be on my car (no intercooler) but with a t3 turbonetics turbo and an fmu to get more fuel...it should run around 150-160whp on 4psi (safe for the car)...by summer's end we are adding a spearco intercooler and an engine management system and hopefully running ~220whp at around 8-9psi...i will be racing the car mostly at summit point to help develop it

I thought you said you decided you weren't going to do it?

Wow I never thought you could run a Turbo w.out an I/C unless you wanna blow your Turbo....shows what I know....

Are you gonna run another CAI w.filter for the intake inlet on the turbo(point where I/C connects w.Turbo)?

Sounds pretty awesome mang.

that was when i'd have to go without a car for 1 month...now we've decided to do it in stages where i'd only have to give up the car for 2 weeks (1 week prep and measure, then when all parts are jet coated, etc 1 week for testing and tuning)...later in the summer bring it in again for the intercooler/ems setup and that'll take 3 weeks

you can run a turbo without intercooler but you must make sure the boost is low 1-4 psi...when you compress air it gets hot leading to detonation of the gasoline which is bad...an intercooler cools the charged air allowing the turbo to run higher amounts of boost

Dorikin: using an intercooler is a very, very wise addition to any forced induced engine...we will run with low boost for a couple months to work out the tuning and develop a better ems solution when we get the intercooler setup and run much higher amounts of boost...this is just temporary (any kit that will be sold will include an intercooler)...the normal eaton/roots type jackson racing supercharger kits do not have an intercooler as they also run low boost and the compressed air doesn't hurt

we will run a cai type setup to get cooler air and the turbo is a ceramic ball bearing application meaning at such low boost and pressure it will not hurt the turbo

you mean www.sdsefi.com which is a canadian company?...it's a nice affordable unit that has some manual adjustment but is limited compared to a motec/haltech/aem ems systems...the reason why we will probably use a motec ems system is b/c the guy who owns the shop is a dealer for those systems so it'll be cheaper and he has experience with that system
