Acura Minivan
Yeah the Freelander is more expensive than anything of similar size. All Land Rovers are over priced.
My mom has a Town & Country, the only thing premium about it is the price.
Neither one of these is extremely "premium," they're like a half notch higher than other offerings within the same segment.

A premium marque uses cars that, while based on lower scale chasis, don't resemble their lower end counterparts very much, if at all. How much does the Acura TL resemble a 6th gen Accord sedan? I don't think there's a single body part or interior part that is interchangeable between the two. Cadillac is GM's premium marque. There isn't a single car in thier lineup that resembles anything else GM makes (perhaps they really did learn from the Cimaron fiasco). A Chrysler T&C is exactly the same as a Chrysler Voyager or Dodge Caravan, with leather and bun warmers. And a rediculous price. For a premium model to be successful, it can't just be a rebadged copy with more bells and wistles to inflate the sticker. It has to have a unique look, feel, and design to be considered premium.

Ford does the same thing to its Explorer/Mountainer/Avaitor and Expedition/Navigator. Those all resembles VERY much their lower siblings still is considered premium.

Hmm, let's list the car brands that have a premium compact SUV/minivan type vehicle in their lineup.
Nobody.
Just because a market niche exists, doesn't mean you need to fill it. Look at the Subaru Baja.
