Exactly. That could be the window-jumping problem on an Integra or a Lincoln LS losing two trannies in six months.

Good point qtiger. Infiniti's reliability is impressing me, they've always been very good. The VQ 3.5 liter V-6 has always been relatively problem free, and it looks like their 4.5 V-8 is as well.

Nissan has fallen down quite a bit. I'm guessing it's due to the 2.5 liter I-4's bad habit of habitually drinking excessive oil, and the crappy interiors falling apart.

does anyone have any links to backup the problem with Nissan engines and oil burning? I'm trying to convince a friend that he shouldn't get a Sentra SE-R

just go to some nissan boards...the 2.5 liter inline 4 that the sentra altima uses is really a pickup truck engine...that's why i'd never consider it

The 2.5 liter I-4 wasn't originally destined to be a pickup engine, joel, or at least this is how I came to understand it.

I thought it was essentially a VQ with two cylinders lobbed off, using the same bore x stoke (not sure if the math works on that, but regardless).

In any event, not that great of an engine, and positively crappy compared to Honda's rev-happy fours.

The 2.5L is just as poopy as the KA24. Trust me, I have one and have driven the other.

Poopy as in not a revver? I dunno WTF you mean here bro. The K24 is extremely refined and has uncharachteristic Honda torque down low. But it isn't really a revver like a B18C...but it makes up for it with its torque and smoothness.
