I thought it was essentially a VQ with two cylinders lobbed off, using the same bore x stoke (not sure if the math works on that, but regardless).
In any event, not that great of an engine, and positively crappy compared to Honda's rev-happy fours.
The 2.5L is just as poopy as the KA24. Trust me, I have one and have driven the other.
