Who's gonna buy a TSX?

If the TSX were to be AWD, that would definetly seperate it from the Accord.

Also wouldn't it be cheap anyway to produce AWD TSX's because the Euro Accord suposedly had AWD? Therefore the platform doesn't need to be changed to implement it. Thoughts anyone?

The Global Midsize that the JDM Accord/TSX is built upon can take FWD, AWD, or RWD with little modification. So it's definetly possible. But you're 100% correct, AWD would definetly seperate it from the Accord. I was thinking it'd hafta be RWD, but AWD would fit in very nicely with Honda's plans. Perhaps this will be the car to usher AWD into the Acura lineup? I sure hope it is.

It can be RWD also? I didnt know that. There are no cars currently on this platform that are RWD, correct?

Supposedly it can be converted to RWD at a very low cost. I dunno where I read that...maybe in here?

Sorry, i didn't mean to sound misleading

what i meant was that there is an option for awd in japan for the tsx, this fact was on a link i saw at the a-cl .com that linked str8 to the japanese accord page....

Also, i read somewhere that for the north american market, the tsx would receive over 200 hp in its top form (i keep hearing 220-240hp).... i'm sorry if i mislead anyone here but we all know how automotive rumors can be sometimes h:

i knew that the platform could be made into awd but rwd? now that would be some ****

I understand your point, but you don't need to reference ACL...as I said, it has had AWD for many years. Various magazines have quoted over 200 horsepower...however, they're only magazines. NOONE, and I mean NOONE, guessed the Accord would have 240HP. That's just one example...noone knows except the upper management and technicians of Honda.

Somehow I think the TSX will chew into a lot more than Accord sales... namely the more expensive competitors such as IS300, BMW 3 series, and others. If anything within the Honda/Acura line-up, the TSX will likely steal sales from the TL, as several TL owners will gladly downsize to a cheaper, sportier and more exciting car.

The TSX makes perfect sense as a global car, and you have to had driven in Europe to fully appreciate this. Narrow roads, very pricey gas and "petrol" - European sports sedan are a blast to drive, I drove an Alfa 156 T Spark this summer for 2 weeks and it was beautiful, sporty and a dream little sound, all with a small displacement 4 under the hood. It was also a fuel mizer, despite the performance intentions. So for me, soon to retire my 11 year old 5-speed Acura Vigor, the TSX is the most appropriate replacement.

I agree completely. However, the TSX and TL are two completely different cars...the TSX is much smaller and sportier, the TL is larger and more luxurious. I'm sure they'll emphasize this even more for the TL's MY2004 redesign. Just look at the success of the ES300/IS300...the ES is gonna sell 70k this year, which'll be the best selling entry-luxo car of all time.

It's funny how the ES doesnt really excel in many areas, it just comes with the expected Lexus quality/luxury. And it sells like crazy.
