if that was the case, why not just kill the rsx/integra, and bring back the prelude? no need for name changing or anything.

car salesmen would tell you that they have too many SUVs that people traded in. Because gas guzzlers don't have the same appeal they did when it seemed like everything was hunky dorry. And more and more people are buying small cars. At least that's been my experience.

It's about time. As nice a car as it was, it really did'nt perform on a level deserving of the near 90k asking price.

One misses the point of that car by looking at a stat sheet

And what exactly is the point? To have a car that can only compete with cars half it's price? That would be like paying 40k for a civic.

Christ, let's pretend this hasn't been gone over eleventy billion times.

Handmade, aluminum body, exquisite interior with hand stitched leather all around, bulletproof reliability, exclusivity factor, unbelievable balance.

R&T did a comparison last year with a 911 Carrera, NSX and Z06. They had a normal guy, an editor and a pro drive all 3. The normal guy thought the NSX was the best in touring, racetrack and overall. Editor said it was the best touring. All 3 guys had the NSX's laptimes VERY close to the Porsche and Z06.

The point? Spec sheets don't tell you the whole story. The 911 and NSX are very similiar in price. You're telling my 30 more horsepower makes the 911 so much better than the NSX? Or that the 115 in the Z06 puts it in another league? Please. For most people, the driving experience is about a lot more than how fast it goes in a straight line, how hard it pushes you back in your seat or what the magazine says for 0-60.

Alot of people forget that HP does not equate to true performance. But rather, power to weight ratio will tell you a much better story. Although the NSX has less power than both the 911 and the Z06, it's also lighter too. Just look at the elise for a perfect example of that. It only has 190 HP but it can do 0-60 in 4.4 sec. The NSX is no slouch in straight line either. Low 13s is respectible enough for me. If I had that kind of money, NSX is pretty high up there on my list of choices too. 98CoupeV6 also hit the nail on the head for the reason why the NSX exist and why it's good.

And its bad because its over a decade old and its saddled with better performing competition that's near half the price. I did'nt say the car did'nt have good points. Apparently they don't even outweigh the bad enough for Honda to justify its existence. They only sold 105 of them between October 02 and January 04. The NSX sold 8 times worse than the slow selling Viper from the same period. In the end, the bean counters make the decisions, and it appears theirs has been made.
