LS/TURBO and GSR Tranny?
I just got my self a 97 2 door teg that i want to build up. I got it really cheap because it has a b16 in it. I was browsing around and I think to gain some some more ponies, it would seem to be best to go with a LS engine with a TURBO and GSR Tranny? Any inputs?

Hmmm...you say you got it cheap because it has a B16? I've been thinking that it would be a bit more than a comparable stock version due to the swap and all, but I digress.
PS:ITR tranny is the way to go.

The reason the ls tranny is concidered better for the turbo is the spacing between the gears. The longer spacing gives more time for the turbo to run. Typically auto trans cars with stock turbos are faster than standard with stock turbos. This is because the turbo spools up and stays there as the tranny shifts gears. Every time you back of to shift gears your turbo has to spool up again to start making power again. The short ratios in the gsr tranny means you shift it more which means less time with the turbo making power.

I say stay with your initial choice...
[EDIT] ^ true point about auto trannys with FI, hence when driving a turbo 5-speed, you have to get better at driving the car and you're shifts will become quicker and quicker and hence less loss of spool. One must learn the car they drive first.[EDIT]
If you can, get a type r tranny. Not so much for the gearing, but because it has a limited slip already on it. Whats the point in building up a badass turbo when you cant put it down to the ground. If you get a GSR tranny put an lsd in it. Match it with a lightened flywheel and clutchmaster clutch and you're set for putting it down.
