Umm... fear is a good thing, especially since if ANYTHING obstructs your car at that speed, you are DEAD... Well, you might be OK if you have a helmet, racing harness and a full roll cage, but if your tire blows (Which becomes a possibility if you're tire's rated HR or less... top rated safe speed of 130mph), you are as dead as they get...

If you hit a speed trap at 120+, and you can't somehow get away.... wow

I've once hit an indicated 130mph with tires that are rated at 112mph, I totally forgot at that time that I was on my stock steelies. It came to me later "WTF was I thinking, I could have killed myself". I did get it up to 135mph with my 17's though, its scary but not THAT scary.

won't VTEC (untampered with) act as a speed governer, cutting off at a specific RPM?

i dunno, i swear i heard someone somewhere say that it would. You know what, maybe what my senile mind actually heard was a conversation about rev limiting, and not speed governing.

i've done an indicated 144mph in my basically stock 94 LS. There is no governor. The only thing holding you back is gearing, redline, and drag.

what's "basically stock"? I've gone as fast as 120 in my 94 Prelude Si, and I may or may not have been able to go faster, I can't really remember, I think I just slowed down because I didn't want to test my luck and get a ticket. Of course I realize the teg is lighter, but the LS puts out 140 at the crank, my Si puts out 160, perhaps there's drag also playing a part. What the hell, I'm sure you're not lying, just curious.
