Default Leaky Door Speaker Install

I just went to install some new speakers that I got and I noticed that it was all wet on the inside of the door (it's raining outside)... the back of the plastic bracket that holds the speaker even had some water on it. Is this normal??? If it isn't, what should I do to fix it? I'm gonna hold off on puttin in that new speaker. Thanks.

You can get little boots to put on the back of your speaker to protect them. To see what I mean go to http://www.crutchfield.com > Installation > Speaker Installation > Foam Baffles

Any reputable stereo shop should carry them. I have no idea if moisture in the door is normal for your car. I know it happens quite a bit in my POS truck because my shit is all rusted out.

Check the weatherstripping running along the the door where the window rolls down into. Make sure they run all the way across from one side to the other and are not cut. Also check to make sure plastic lining/seal has not detached from the door. You may need to buy new lining/seals and use a clear adhesive like liquid nails to seal them back on.

The moisture in your door is normal, thats why all that plastic is there and the OEM plastic on the back of the speaker. If you put a decent speaker in there it will be a lot deeper, so you will either have to cut the back off that black plastic piece or take it out all together. I used the foam baffles for my Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1 component system, and it worked perfect with no moisture getting through at all. I got mine from www.partsexpress.com They will be a lot cheaper than crutchfield. Here is the exact URL for the 6.5 baffles. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd..._ID=5847&DID=7
When you put them in, just cut a little slit in the back big enough to put the speaker wire through, then your set. Godd luck. Any more ?'s about stereo, let me know, it has been a hobby of mine for a while, so I know a thing or 2 about it.
