i thought your motor would get screwed running no filter. even though the turbines are spinning there has got to be something getting in there that is not supposed to be there. anyhow would you reccomend a air filter for a daily driver turbo.

ok here is my true objective. i want a reliable setup that is not that expensive on upkeep or anything like that and is relatively cheap to put together. in other words if i dont absolutely need it but it would be nice or something like that then i dont want it.

im in the same boat you are poman, i just want a relatively cheap and effecient way to get a stable turbo setup with preferably 7 lbs of boost running on a daily driver, and if the engine does go kaboom in 80k or so thats ok because i have a 2nd engine that im in the process of tearing down and rebuilding with performance parts.

right now i just want something that will sound good run good and will spank some damn mustang gt's,and other hondas that run around thinking they r badass cause they got some hideous metal wing and a fart can strapped to their ass

(yes i have a semi-fart can but at least i hate it, am chaning it, and dont think im cool):fawk:

If you want to save money dont get that big of turbo, just go for a T3. Or get a junkyard turbo. If you do go junkin, try and look for a older 84ish 280ZX Turbo. They have T3/T4's stock, then get the turbo rebuilt. Also the old Saabs have T3's stock. It might be about the same price as getting a turbo rebuilt and getting a new turbo. it all depends on the condition of the junk turbo.

ohh and another way to save money is to get a intercooler from a car that has one stock. FMIC arent cheap, unless you go with a non name brand one. I got mine from a guy on E-bay that cuts them to size out of a 30x30x2 intercooler. My intercooler is 30x7x2 and it was only $200 brand new. try and spend that much on a HKS thats smaller than mine used.

or look around for Starion/Conquest, 88-92 Mx6/Probe (bigger than DSM intercoolers although there not as thick). i just sold my stocker for $40
Lots of turbo cars have nicly sized stock intercoolers, just do a search on yahoo

ohh ya, if your going to put an intercooler on its your going to need some kinnda BOV or BPV (blow off valve/bypass valve). Just get a 1st gen Eclipse (DSM) bypass valve and crush it. the BPV has what looks like a hat on the top of it. you have to put in a vice and crush it untill the "hat" is crushed as much as possible.

someone else explain that a little more, im not that great with the BPV's. I like BOV more, they just hold more boost and make more sound.

Wow that's a pretty good list. Would there be any danger running a rebuilt turbo? I may start piecing my kit together sometime soon(Hopefully).
