My head gasket was 80 bucks, and the change took less than three hours. While you have your head off, its a good idea to change the timing belt as well, which will set you back about 50 bucks. The valve cover gasket is 10 or so, and new plugs are about 20. If you're not the type of person who does work themselves, get as much done at the shop as possible while they're in there with everything apart anyhow.
The head bolts are torque-to-yield, and according to the manual they should be changed every time you take the head off (the bolts themselves actually stretch). That being said, I took my head off about 10 times and used the same bolts with no problems running 15 pounds of boost. If you've got the cash though, again, its a good time to swap out for ARP studs which hold a lot better for one thing, and for another never have to be replaced.

I can do the operation myself in about 3 hours, but I've done it enough times that the most time consuming part is looking up torque values. A newb with no experience doing it, could do it in 5 by the book, easily.

Expect to pay around between 750 and 1000 for most places to pull your head. It'll probably be less, but expect the worst.
