Default HOT cockpit! HELP!

my cockpit is very very hot, temperature wise, and i cant stand it anymore. when im drving on the the freeway it will start to heat up enough to get my phone hot if it was laying next to my hand brake. please give me advise. im either gonna go to kragen tomorrow and see if they can get some codes, or to my friends shop. if not im gonna bring it to some import store and let them check it out and charge me watever to fix the problem.

but does anybody know what might cause this. i have a 2001gsr, CAI, cat, exhaust. might the heat shield of been removed when the cat installed or the sumthin wrong with the obd1/obd2? any mechanics in the house and also will this be expensive to fix cuz damn im on a budget! thanx to everybody thats been posting on my other post all the time.

Well my teg with gray/black leather is WAAAY hot during the summertime (which means right now). Even blasting the A/C doesn't really help all the much. The 5% limo tint makes a difference, but even that doesn't prevent the heat from comin in. I can't imagine a black/black leather integra with no tint.

i think it happens on everyones integras. i think the heat comes up from the cat and into where the ebrake hangdle leads to and that entire area..i dont think you can do much except maybe put some heat wrap tape over the exhaust components that are under that area.

u serious? i was thinking of wrapping it with some insulation(my cat) or do somthin. and to the other posters, im not talking about the heat from the weather, im talking about heat caused by the car and emmiting into the cockpit. i mean when i drive at night and its cold, my hand brake, shifter, gets very hot! if its clogged(cat) can it cause this?

I kinda have the same problem as well. Theres a flimsy looking heat shield over the Cat. I was planning to wrap that instead of the Cat it self. Didn’t do it yet, I bought a few rolls of thermotec adhesive backed heat barrier. I figure b/c of the shape of the heat shield it would deflect the heat better.

Link To Stuff

thanks,
Mike

I have only heard of people having this problem when they took off the heat sheild over the cat. If yours is still on though I would def. check into some heat wrap.

Even if the heat shield is still there, it will radiate much more heat to the underside of the car if it's rusty. Get a shiny new one to improve this.

Don't forget the other heatshields that are bolted to the underside of the car.

so is their a specific design i should put the heat shield on, like is their specific parts i should cover? also where can i buy this w/o ordering online and how much?

i was also wearing shorts today and i can feel the hot air coming through the vents for the feet. also i had the ac on all day and when i took a turn hard, some water or maybe coolant? spilled from somewhere underneath the center conlsole. this is so weird and scary. any reason to why liquid spilt on my foot?

was the liquid really hot? if so, it was probably from your heater core. if not, there might have been condensation on the evaporator that leaked out of the HVAC housing.

and i would recommend not wrapping your cat with that asbestos wrap stuff. it might not be able to dissapate enough heat and could melt the catalysts. but you could wrap the heat shield and re-install that.
