How would a set of 17's on the car affect mileage? Do they make you put more miles on the car or less?

I dont know about my MPG (not gonna do the math) but I get on ave 300 miles on a tank, but this weekend i went to LA from San Jose on HWY5 and got 200 miles at half tank, with an additive. I really wanted to know if I'd get 400 off one tank, but coming up to the Grapevine mountain I had to refill, since I wont make it to the next gas station.

400 (miles) / 13.2 (gallon tank) = 30.3 mpg

It would take some nerve, but I think it's possible.

I should mention 94 RS automatic with many mods averaged 65-70 mph. And how certian are you on the tank size being 13.2, I always thought is was less since I never pump more than 11 gal at the pumps. U learn something new everyday. So then when does the fuel light come one? less than 1 gal or 2???

I'm not.

I looked at the pics of your car in the other thread you posted in and assumed it was a '99 or newer. I guess you have a new front end, since the pics didn't show the little divider in the opening below the front bumper.

I just checked Edmunds.com, they say your '94 holds 13.2 gallons.

Rim size doesn't matter, you need to calculate overall tire diameter. It is possible to have 17 inch rims and a smaller overall tire diameter than stock, or larger, depending on what size tires you use.

Heavier rims will require more throttle for the same acceleration, so you could chew through more fuel that way.

tire pressure, tires balanced or not, alignment, mods, how you drive, bad gas. there are many things that cause bad gas mileage.

man this is one heck of a thread on just gas mileage! i took a trip to NY to visit my buddy & after 280 miles i filled up, only 7 gallons!
that equals 40mpg. this was before the stereo.
if your tire circumfrence is larger than you will put less miles on the car because the tire isn't rotating as fast, that also equals what seems to be less gas mileage. yes it's probably a little less, but nothing to be worried about.
