Default Just starting out.......

What would your suggestions for first mods be?

Here is the car...
99 Integra GS Sedan (five speed)
55,000 miles
All maintenance done on time and up to date (original owner)
Currently, this car is completely stock......(blank slate)

This car is a daily driver.......I am not going to race it.....what I am looking for is to increase the fun factor a little (both looks and handling).

By reading, I know that it is always suggested to get all maintenance done first, which is completed, then it is suggested to get new rubber.......(got Dunlop Sport A2's about 6 months ago - which I really like by the way)..... what would you suggest next? Again, I am not ever going to race this car, so I don't need the ultimate top of the line stuff, but I do want something that is safe and fun to drive around.

Thanks for the suggestions........

An intake is the cheapest mod and will make driving around a lot more enjoyable because of the sound factor.

What kind should I get and how much should I expect to pay for it? I don't know much about how cars work, but I would like to learn........Is this a good project to start with?

Definitely not going to turbo this car. This is just a daily driver that I want to make a little more fun. I am not going to race it so I am not concerned about going REALLY fast, I am content with going kinda fast and having a good time along the way.

You don't really need to do anything to this car to have fun in it and go fast. I HIGHLY recomend you put all of your nickes and dimes in the piggy bank for the next 12 months while you learn the car, it's powercurve, how it handles, what it's strenths and weaknesses are, etc. This will let you figure out what you want and need to do, and, more importantly, what the effect of your modifications are. Plus, you'll probably save money in the long run.

I am the original owner.........I have driven it for 55,000 miles.......I am very familiar with how the car works/handles, etc. (its stock characteristics). I was wondering what mods. would be good to start out with. Seeing as I have no experience in this, I thought some of you could lend insight to things that you were glad you did and things that you wish you would not have done.

In that case, suspension mods that were listed above,I/h/e,and maybe a short throw shifter. You can also tighten up the throttle cable to give your car a little quicker throttle response, don't tighten it up to the point it affects your idle speed, but just enough to take a bit of slack out.

Oops - my mistake. I thought you meant you just got the car from the original owner. I have a friend of mine who just picked up a '00 GSR and is looking do do all kinds of stuff to it, but she has never driven one, so this is what I keep telling her.

My apologies, pnthr30.

In this case, an intake isn't a bad idea. There will be a million suggestons on which one is better, but the AEM CAI seems to be really good and used to be about $170. I don't know what it is now that the V2 is out. If you get that, let us know how it is.

Modifying the suspension is good too, just make sure you have some high-performance tires on there too. In fact, tires would probably be my first "mod"
