Default LS ecu

Anybody ever chipped an LS ecu to change the rev limiter, timing and fuel curve. If so, which chip did you use?

They're junk. Dont waste your money. Every motor is different so how could a pre-programmed chip do so much for so many different motors.

Is there any other way to bump redline up to 8,000?

Why would you want to bump your redline up ? The LS engine makes max power at around 6400 if im not mistaken. Your not going to get any more power out of the engine no matter how much higher you go. Also, that engine is not made to rev that high. You will just be damaging it . Now if your getting new cams and a new drivetrain, that would be different..........

The LS motor runs out of steam well before 8,000 rpm. Dig up any dyno plot and you'll see what I mean.

Instead of getting a generic "chip", try looking up the Apexi AFC. It *can* actually be very useful for the purposes you listed.

Because I have a bunch of engine work done and it keeps making power well beyond the stock redline. That is why I want to bump it up. Don't talk like I don't know what I'm talking about. I built my motor to beat the vtec motors and it does by far.

If you had a lot of engine work done then your car deserves better than a generic "chip". Those chips make close to zero distinction between a 150 whp car and a 220 whp car. So instead of chipping it, I would recommend shelling out $340 for an Apexi S-AFC (or something along those lines) and save up for some dyno time.

What year is the teg?

You can't change redline with a SAFC. I already have on. You just change the fuel curve. I have a B18B1 in a 99 Civic with a 95 LS ecu.

lol, ok, you got me there with the SAFC. If you had listed all those mods in your original post the responses would have been different. Here are some options:

1) Sell the SAFC and go with hondata (not sure what your budget allows you to do): http://www.hondata.com/products.html

2) Wait for someone on this board to recommend a good vendor to have your ECU chipped (you can actually probably find someone local to do this; where are you located?) Quite a few members on honda-tech actually chip ECU's for a living, you can go there and PM any of these folks: Katman, eg6ajk, kenji, cheetah. A lot of H-T members have used their services and have been happy, but I would research a bit more before paying any of them.

3) Sell the LS ECU and the SAFC and get a GSR ECU + VAFC
