Well, the ITR motor wouldn't be a bad deal if you don't want the hassle of building a C1 up. Although, if you're dedicated, building up is the way to go.

Don't you have a GSR? There are plenty of reliable go-fast parts; no need to waste a perfectly good B18C1.

The ITR is also lighter, and stock for stock has a better suspension/frame + transmission, so just the engine alone won't do much.

Good point.......but I mean will my gsr motor be just as reliable/powerful as a b18c5, if I bolt on a few thousand dolars worth of parts ? Also, do any of you guys know what the difference is between stock quarter mile times ?

if those people are on stock cams then theyre idiots

If you go to www.itr1220.com like I said, they comapre the two cars at the same time.

Stock times for any car, much less two different cars, won't mean a thing. I've seen a stock ITR ring up a 14.2 1/4 mi, but I've seen a 14.9 also. I've seen 6.2 to 6.8 0-60 times, that also doesn't mean too much.

SCC compared the 4 cars under the same conditions, so it's as close as you're going to get man. Just trust us when we say 25 hp & 100lbs makes a big difference. Not to mention gearing & MUCH stickier rubber on the R.

Yes, it can be just as reliable, although like I said before, you shouldn't be so preoccupied with just the 25 hp gap; the ITR has many performance advantages over the GSR that are unrelated to its power output.

Note that if you decide to swap out the engine and do a poor job, you'll run into a host of reliability issues as well.
