The intake kit is a shortram setup w/ filter. The icebox is just the box.

He only paid $50 for install, so he could get the factory warranty with all the stuff. He's doesn't even have 10K on it yet.

$392 is the price for the SRI, Icebox, filter and labor. I'm going to get an Icebox soon, but I don't think its worth the $$ to get the SRI. The best price I found for the Icebox and intake is $220 shipped, which is very comparible to the cost of an AEM CAI. Also the best price I found for the SRI, Icebox and filter is $315 shipped.

I found the filter to be a pain to get out. A foam filter will give you the best flow but the worst filtration; you'll have to clean/oil it somewhat frequently.

How often do you clean it?

Let me get this straight, getting the sri will allow the foam filter to sit inside the stock air box?

So how is the ice box different than the stock box?

Higher flow, it brings in cold air.

I have just the icebox & filter on my car, I'm getting the intake tube next month

Stock box routes through resonator and back to the engine bay on GSRs and LSs.

I didn't have any problems getting the filter off my ice box. I clean it every oil change.

I've never messed w/ a foam filter, is it just as involved as cleaning a k&n filter?

Do you wash w/ water or something else? I'm guessing it's got to sit out to dry b/f you put that sucker back on right? Does it get that dirty that quick? Cleaning it every oil change seems bothersome.

Yeah it was easy spray the cleaner stuff you can get from comptech. Let it sit then wash it out with water. Then respray with oil. Thats all there is too it. It may take a while to fully dry after its been rinsed. But thats all there is too it. I clean it jsut to keep it working at peak and when i was at home it was on a ranch and it got dirty fairly quick i jsut look at it and if its dirty clean it. Its really easy to do since the filter is basically in the stock location and not down low. I would think the more you clean any filter would be better.
