I went to best buy on saturday to look at some cd players. Upon coming out I saw that someone reversed into my car. There are a significant number Of scratches on my front bumper. It didnt get the hood though. They basically look like someone took knife and made like 1000 lines. My neighbor at Acura said it could possibly be buffed out. I'm about to cry . The right part of the bumper where it meets the sidepanel is a little off(there is a gap), and the headlight looks a little off compared to the other one.


Is this worth getting the insurance to pick this up??

 

man im sorry to hear that, same thing happened to me and i just got my front end freshly painted . those little lines piss me off and most likely you will be able to buff them out.

I feel your pain. It looks like the previous owner rear-ended someone witht the car becuz there is all these cracks in the paint which I would love to get out. Atleast you didn't get to the crack stage. Ya best buy's parking lot is crazy. we went there once when my aunt was pregnant and some teen parked in the pregnanat mothers spot, it was horrible. But anyway, I would choose the most cost effective way to getting it back to new.

 

there's no need to buy a new bumper if there's just damage to the paint.. see if you can buff it out first..

 

Yeah but still that bumper was for like 100 bucks, can beat that. I wonder how the quality is

 

 

dude i feel your pain and if i were you i would atleast wait till the front bumper gets a few rock chips in it so atleast you know you got your monies worth out of the paint and then get it repainted.

 

this might sound crazy, but try some of that GS-27 scratch remover stuff. you can find it at pepboys or autozone. one day it was really windy and a tree fell right in front of me and it took off my side view mirror and scratched up my entire side of my accord. i used some GS-27 and it took it ALL out. i was amazed. it LOOKS like you just have white paint marks from the other guys car on your hood, and the gs-27 might be able to take it out. i would def. give it a shot, its only like 8 bucks.

 

that really sucks. Try buffing it out, It may be fine. I hate asshole drivers who hit people's cars and then just leave the scene thinging everything is fine. That pisses me off.

I wouldn't get the insurance company involved unless yoyur deductable is really low. The damage can probably be repaired for less than your deductable is. No sense getting your rates to increase.
