Hey guys. I was just wondering. I'm still kinda new here and I wanna get a feel of what are the most popular and cost efficient mods for your teggy's.

HERES THE SCENARIO

You have a 99 LS with under 50k miles on it and $5,000.00 to spend on mods. What would you guys do?

Small Greddy Turbo Kit (non-intercooled for now), new struts, new springs, and some new tires.

If you are going to be keeping the car awhile, then yeah you could purchase all those upgrades. If you are going to be selling the car in a few years, then its stupid to spend that much money - 75% of the value of the car itself - on upgrades; it won't raise the price of the car when you go to sell it, and you've just tossed nearly $5000.

You make a good point Level_7, but then that almost brings up the new question of why people spend money on their cars in the first place.

Screw the small GReddy kit, he's in Maryland. Smog testing there is very easy.

Get some wheels and tires, good brake pads, shocks and springs, maybe a rear swaybar. From there, there are other assorted goodies, although you'll probably be left with not enough to get a turbo.

Get the chassis sorted out first.

Well, I was in the same situation and I have $1,000 left plus the mods listed below (sans brake pads/rotors). Now that I look back on things I really wish I had $4,000 more to spend on forced induction. But I'm happy with the way the car looks and handles.

Chassis + appearance = greatest satisfaction. Once you start opening up your engine and seriously bumping up power levels you'll enter an entirely different world.
