Default Turbo for a GSR

Won't adding a torbo to a 4 cylinder engine wear it down drastically??? v-tech or not. i am kind of curious as to the engine life after adding the turbo.

the v-tech engine isnt precisely tuned for a turbo in the first place, but still, wont adding a turbo cut ur engine life almost in half? depending on how excessive u drive it of course....

its VTEC and it all depends on how you tune it

VTEC, gotcha, sorry bout that, i own a dodge stealth at the moment (still trying to get the DSM taste out of my head), but im trying to pay it off and sell it to get a 95+ gsr. i havent messed with turbo applications before, so tuning can go so far to me. any suggestions?

Well, I'd highly suggest getting a GSR. People might say the LS is better for boost or what have you, but it's not really true. It's just easier to run MORE boost, because of lower compression ratio. With the GSR, you'll get more power per PSI, and you're starting with more power already.

The tuning should be done on a dyno by someone who knows what they're doing. I'd just rent one out for an hour and have the place tune it, be sure to find a reputable shop though.

It will cut your engine life (maybe not in half) just due to increased wear and tear. But this issue usually comes up with supercharging.

People will tell you boost is boost and that with proper tuning you'll be fine blah blah blah but the bottom line is that if you want to go fast you'll need to work your components harder. What do you want your car to do?

I would suggest doing a search, you'll find tons of threads on the subject.

it will cut down the life of the engine because of the excess wear and tear but if you build up the engine to handle the boost you'll be ok. Also I agree that it should be professionally tuned. That will make sure that everything is running fine and that you don't ruin your engine from improper tuning.
