91integrals,
Uh, I wouldn't put 20w50 in there under any circumstances. Just try the RedLine stuff. If anything is going to help, that would do it.

Ok I know I'm being random here and coming out of no where with this question , but since we were talking about transmissions and such I'm asking it. I've heard you should change your transmission oil every 30k miles. Well I am due for one then now if that is true, but I'm not sure what transmission oil to use. I'm sure I could find it in the manual, but the computer is closer right now so I thought I'd ask on her.

Oh and another thing, someone said something about being able to change gears with out the clutch at certain rpms, well for some reason as of a few thousand miles ago I've noticed I can slip my shifter out of gear while driving with out the clutch. And most of the time it comes out easily. And another thing is I'm able to shift gears with out my cluth now. I did it just once to see if it would do it, beacuse yes I know it is not good for the car. But I was jsut wondering could there be something wrong??? Or is it normal I can do that. Oh and I can only shift from gear to gear with out the cluth at certain rpms and I dont' get any grinding sound when it happens either. Thanks.

Chrgsr96,
Yes, the interval for most Honda tranny fluid is 30k. You can use regular old 10w30 if you're not having any problems. I've heard that putting an SJ oil in there is too slippery for the synchros. In any case, I'd suggest RedLine MTL. You'll prolly pay around $8 a quart.
Yep, you're sacrificing you're synchros while you're playing around shifting without the clutch. Sure, it'll do it, but it's not nice to your tranny.

Ok thanks, and when it does slip out of gear usually its not on purpose, but yea needless to say I know not to shift gears with out the clutch and I not its horrible to the transmission. Oh and the plug for draining the transmission fluid is easy to find isn't it? I'm sure it is.

I'm new to manuals (only been 3 months and counting), but when you say "GRINDING" , is that the metal on metal noise when like you dont have the gear all the way in and you let the clutch out and hear a terrible noise?

Yes that would be griding. Most people do it alot when going into reverse. They think that they are in reverse and let out the clutch but then you hear that awful metal to metal sound. Which just means you need to put it all the way in gear. Needless to say grindnig gears isn't a good thing but i'm sure you already new that.
