Default Starter problem

Heh, this is my first post that will count. How lovely Ok, here's the question:

Now, I don't know what it's called, but it's where I put the key to start the engine. Anyway, when I go to get out of my car, I turn the key and push in, of course. Problem is this: It won't come out. It's as if my car is still in gear (I have an auto), and it just won't come out. Question is tho, it seems this has only been happening recently, maybe it's becuase of the cold weather? Also, how much is that part, and can I install it myself? Thanks for all the help!

Is the car in park? you have a gauge in front of you, the P should light up red. I never really had that problem on my teg so I can't say much more.... but I found it hard to push in when I first got the car

Yea, the car is in park. It's weird, cuz when it's gonna work, I'll hear this clicking noise coming from my gearshift, as if I was trying to take the key out when it wasn't in park. I have a G2 GS Teg, if that makes any difference. Thanks for your help, Taiwanze7.

Sometimes the board is a little slow, try to be patient.

To get the car to start you need either fuel or spark. If something is interrupting the flow of either of these the motor won't turn over even if your starter is fine.

With the G2's (and pretty much all B-series ignitions) a common problem is the ignitor goes bad and the car won't start.

the best thing to do would be to open up the center console so when you hear the clicking(just remove the panel that is around the shifter),so you can see where its coming from. i know that there is a actuator that works with your brakes that allows you to move the shifter when you press that brakes. there may be something similar or a sensor that detects the shifter position.
