yeah first and 2nd are numerically the same between the two, but the FD is what makes up for it
Well that pretty well covers what I was going to add, lol.

As for the "auto 4cyl. will never be fast" argument, that's a pretty standard rule of thumb to go by, of course there will be exceptions buy you have to admit that speaking in generalities, it's true.

I've never dealt with Honda autos. Do they make shift kits for these like american trannys? That could make a big difference.

There's a lot of potential with these if you want to spend the $$
F-ing sweet. How much Tq does it have at the wheels? Do you have a build thread? I'd like to see a full break down. I wanna go all motor now.

the main thing about the auto trans for B-series is the lack of torque multiplication - theres only 4 forward gears instead of 5, and the final drive and those 4 gears are longer than those offered in the manual transmissions - even compared to the LS transmission. there are other issues like space constraints (design limits the size of torque converter, planetary gear sets, etc) which also further exacerbate the lack of "performance" that automatic b-series trans has. but like its been said already, there are options out there that prove otherwise (Level 10).

with the lack of relative torque that the b-series puts out, they need all the help they can get via torque multiplication. this is why the typeR transmissions and their variants (namely B16) have such numerically high (short) gears, along with higher final drives. if someone were to make a manual B-series transmission with the same final drive and same gear ratios in 4 gears as the ones in the automatic, i bet that car wouldnt accelerate that well either.

with the narrow powerband of the vtec/ls-vtec NA setups, the long 4 gears tend to ALWAYS drop the rpms out of the vtec powerband.

ok thats it. please no more auto vs manual talk.

I do not have a build thread, I built this before I joined the group. I don't have the dyno sheet anymore but it was around 160wtq.

Search, for the love of Christ. :shake:
We've got an entire FAQ thread devoted to the subject.

It's right at the top of the bloody forum list.

There is another guy local just did a stock full SIR-G swap into his teg w/bolt on (GSR Auto) couple of month back. I think he is pushing around 154whp stock.

It required more money to dump in then manual but you can make them fast.
Sorry, but not to be a dick, but 310whp doesn't impress me very much, especially since it's F/I. I've seen all-motor K's do that.

Do you know what is involved and how much to do a K swap? You think it's that easy and cheap. I do more research if I were you.
