Default Integra over heating

OK i have no history on this car i just bought it for cheap and the guy told me it over heats. He also told me he had just rebuild the head and bought a new block for it (B18A1 on a 98 :-( he showed me receipts. So i realized that the upper house gets hot and the bottom one dosent. So i changed the termostat and still no luck. Could it be the water pump there is no leaks but my car make noise like a rattle and i think its coming from the water pump. can any one help.

Yea, I would replace the water pump. The top hose is getting hot just by heat transfer. If they both dont get hot after the thermostat opens, then the pump is bad. Are you sure you removed all the air from the system as well?

might be a clog somewhere in the system too, like when people use tap water instead of real coolant and all the corrosion and what not wreaks havok on the cooling system. cheap radiators are more sensitive to this and clog up fast.

What do you mean remove all the air.

The radiator looks good no rust what so ever. The guy i bought from said he had replaced it and it looks new. Anything else besides the water pump. I know the head aint the problem because it got rebuild a couple months back.

Verify that your radiator fan is turning on when the temp switch crosses over to the on point.

Integra's can sometimes be a pain to remove all the air from the cooling system once you open it up. This can cause a few issues. What are you basing the overheating on, by the temp gauge?

any check engine light?

so, my first approach on my shop is to see if theres coolant in the radiator and then i pressure test it and then looks for leaks.

the radiator hose being hot at the top and cold at the bottom is a good sign. that means the thermostat is opening and the radiator is cooling the hot coolant that passes through the radiator.
it might be an issue with you fan not turning on when the temp reaches high temp.
or like what i mentioned above, your cooling system needs to be pressure tested and see if it leaks coolant.

It could be two things? Your head gasket or either your thermostat is going out. If you see oil in your coolant then you know that something is wrong.
