Default Short Ram or CAI?

What's the difference between the two? I guess the major sources would be AEM or Injen right?

the difference? the short ram has the filter placed inside the engine bay. the cai, has the filter place usually outside the engine bay behind the front bumper.

Cool. So what are the _functional_ differences? Why would I get one over the other?

If you are going with just plain ol' bolt-ons, a CAI/H/C/E system will net you anywhere from 10 whp to 15 whp. The CAI by itself doesn't really add that much power, but it functions as part of a system.

a front mount intercooler? or do you mean FMIS(front mount intake system) which doesnt out perform AEM CAI at all because air hitting hte filter is too turbulent for any good flow results?

Ok, now how about some fact?

The CAI is the blue line, massive gains from 4-5k RPM.

Go with the CAI unless you're revving past 8500RPM. Past that the SRI beats it out.

Whoever says that the intake doesn't give hardly any power is a moron. And if you get drawn into the hydrolock hype and get a bypass valve, that would make you more of a moron. No risk of hydrolock unless you drive in water that's like two foot deep. Your teg IS NOT A BOAT!!

I'd definately not go for the front mount intake... it just makes the water problem with CAI 100 times worse. Not only are rocks gonna be slamming into that filter, u're not gonna be drivin in rain, or wet road.

Putting cold air into your engine makes more power because cold air is denser than warm air. That means more oxygen, more combustion, more power.

I like the short rams, dun like dealing with a filter i can't even see. I'd put a cold air box around a short ram preventing heat from the engine bay from getting into ur filter. Won't do the job of a cai... but its better than nothing.

my opinion
