Ram Air on G2
How many 'ram air' intake systems have you guys built?
I built one over the weekend and WOW! This thing is cool. On my maiden test run after installation, I was impressed with the throttle response. I wouldn't say this gave me much more power HP-wise, but it is much quicker to respond.
I took many pictures of the install and fabrication of the fiberglass scoop, if y'all are interested in me posting them....
I basically utilized the hole in the bottom of the airbox where the resonator used to be and ran the pipe to the scoop in the airdam.
Then I plugged the hole in the front and removed the stock 'intake pipe' (or excuse for one, anyway).
Should I build a page with the deatils and post it somewhere?

Yeah, I did a similar thing on my '97 LS. Except that I didn't actually connect the ram air pipe to the intake... I just make it blow the air directly at my short ram's filter, that way it'll cool be engine bay down too (it gets real hot with my header). Not really "ram air", but the intake now has a really good supply of outside "cold" air and the throttle response is better.
Just be careful... I've found that mine picks up a lot of nasty stuff that I don't want in my engine (or my engine bay). I temporarily disable it when it's really wet outside. I have gotten my filter pretty wet before in heavy rain with lots of puddles and other cars splashing water; it didn't cause a problem, but now I'm much more careful about it.

I also have a 'ram air' on my Grand Cherokee that I built. the filter has direct exposure to rain and mist through the opening in the grille. I do keep an eye on it in wet weather, but I have yet to have any problems out of it.
Currently in the Teg, I have the stock panel filter installed, until I decide to shell out the $50 to get the drop-in K&N.
Again, I will monitor what gets sucked up in there closely and in worst case, I will add a screen on the inlet.
I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow....
