Yeah, I did a similar thing on my '97 LS. Except that I didn't actually connect the ram air pipe to the intake... I just make it blow the air directly at my short ram's filter, that way it'll cool be engine bay down too (it gets real hot with my header). Not really "ram air", but the intake now has a really good supply of outside "cold" air and the throttle response is better.

Just be careful... I've found that mine picks up a lot of nasty stuff that I don't want in my engine (or my engine bay). I temporarily disable it when it's really wet outside. I have gotten my filter pretty wet before in heavy rain with lots of puddles and other cars splashing water; it didn't cause a problem, but now I'm much more careful about it.
