Please lower the car, cars with just rims and not lowered look so freakin stupid. I would rather have a lowered car on hubcaps than a 4x4 car with rims.

no way.. it's totally the other way around.

i've seen plenty of lowered cars on stock wheels and they looked good. on the other hand, i've seen plenty of cars with aftermarket wheels at stock height, and they looked like ass.

Blah blah blah...this looks weird, that looks busted...

Recognize that aside from the engine, tires are the most importand part of the car. A lowered car with crappy tires is not going to stick to the road as well as a stock car with good tires.

I'd say go both also...

But if you have to get just one, I'd say suspension first... I've seen too many cars with big wheels and a big wheel gap to match it... :nono:

So basically everyone here except me is thinking about this solely based on looks. Great.

well, i'm sure most of the enthusiasts here realize the importance of tires.. regardless, that wasn't her question.

The reason I advised suspension first versus tires was that she expressed interest in getting aftermarket wheels. Obviously the correct path in modifications would be tires, shocks, then springs, but the fact that she wanted aftermarket wheels skewed the picture a bit.

Well, first impressions are everything, right? :dunno:

Hrmm...if that were the case I would've cut my springs instead of saving up for an upgraded suspension and running around stock for months.

Keeping the car clean gives just as good of a first impression, you agree? Back in HS kids would always HAVE to lower their car the week they got it, and do a ghetto tint/hyperblinkers/cheap altezza's just for the sole purpose of saying "my car ain't stock y0!".

With that said, I think a lowered car on the stock wheels can look pretty nice. Esp a 2000 teg. Ideally her modifications would follow SCCA SoloII class rules starting from stock -> STS -> etc., since that's the normal learning curve anyways.

ps. her stock tires are fine for learning purposes; I did 2-3 auto-x events and a track day on my stock XGT's @ 25,000 + miles. Sure I ran horrible times but I was basically learning how to drive the car close to the limit at all times. I can't wait to see how I do with my new RE730's.
