changing oil....
From the bottom.
Go to Wal-Mart and buy one of the hard plastic caps that goes on the end of your oil filter.
It slips on the end of it, and has a hole in it for your socket wrench to snap in, then you just take your wrench and turn counter-clockwise and it comes right off.
Much easier than them damn Oil Filter Wrenches (I never have enough room, and always hit the alternator and supports and stuff with the handle of those).
THe cap is a little black thing, that just goes on teh end of the filter.

the OEM filter was the hardest to take off.
once you get that filter off, the next filter shouldnt be that tight. just tighten enough with your hand and dont forget to lube the gasket.
i always loosen from the bottom, and take out from the top. im always scared of dripping oil...

also, when i remove the oil filter, i never get drippage. then again, i change the oil first thing after the car has been sitting all night...
Good thing you're going to be doing it yourself. Guaran-damn-tee everytime you take it to the local Lube & Tune outfit, they're going to overtighten the filter.
Do your own from now on, it'll keep you from cussing at them next time you do it yourself, plus, you will have the peace of mind that it was done right (and that there is actually oil in the engine).
I've heard too many horror stories about the quick oil change places NOT PUTTING OIL BACK IN!!
BTW, just use the ol' floor jack and jackstands. And just tighten it enough to make a good seal, doesn't take much, then there will be NO NEED TO OWN A FILTER WRENCH.... like me...
Have fun!!
