Stands are only like $10-15. I dunno if I'd get under a car that was supported by stands I made. Unless you're really confident in your welding skills. ANyway, I didn't have a problem getting the filter off after a shop did the oil change. I bought the "cap" thing Antarius is talking about (I thought that was called an oil filter wrench ) but I didn't even need it. Careful you don't burn your arm on the exhaust pipe like some people (hehe).

Thanks for all the replies! I hate taking it to the oil shop....they charge like $25 for just a change! What a rip off!

Well, I always heard you should warm it up. It makes sense because the oil thins out as it gets hot, right, so when you drain it more will come out, and quicker, when it's hot/thinner.

Of course, on the other hand, if you let it sit for a half day, it will all settle to the bottom and maybe more will come out then. Who knows.

right, that's my logic, but i have heard the one about warming the oil so it flows out better. tho, i tried that once, and oil was in the filter, so taking it out resulted in a nice mess, and i was concerned about oil still sitting in lines.. :dunno: i'll just stick to what i've been doing.

I change my oil when it's hot, drains faster.
Wewt.
The filter is easier to take off by hand too.

Kragens takes your oil, up to 5 gallons a day (or week, depends where), and they even GIVE YOU 0.32c per gallon you bring in.

So, take it there.
I just bring it back in the new-oil quarts.

well I just got done changing the oil. Thanks for the tip Antarius about the cap on the filter. I went out to buy that today and it came off in a snap. Yay, don't have to change my oil for another 5000 miles...hehe....Redline!

Yeah me too. I couldnt even get enough room to punch a screwdriver through it so I had to drill a hole in the god damn thing and then stick a screwdriver in it and turn it. God damn dealerships. The oem filters have like absolutely no grip too.
