Default Front Camber Kits Recommendations

Hi there,

So finally I decided to go with the Type II Function & Form coilovers on my 95 2 door teg... finally no more sagging from one corner.. everything is now slam.. well.. not too slam compared to most people.. but i've been used to the 1.5 drop and it's now something like 2.0inch drop.. ie: when turning the tires 45 degree angles.. it rubs.. which to me is freaking me out.. but a lot of my buddies say it's normal... Anyway.. I've been trying to relearn ways to go over those damn speed bumps.. mind you I still have my mud guards attached... so everytime i go over something.. it scraps.. which I don't mind as long it's my mud cars and not my mid-pipe, oem side-skirts and stuff.. anyway i'm in need of a camber kit and need your honest opinion. Upon upgrading Strut & Spring setup.. to Coilovers, i discovered that my driverside front Uppoer Control arms needed to be replaced and the Passenger front was about to go too.. so I had them replaced with some aftermarket OEM replacements as at that time I needed the car back (was in the shop for 2 days) so I didn't have the time to replace the Upper Control Arms... so now i'm left with a dilemma... do I go with a seperate Camber Kit... or a Camber kit that comes with the Uppoer Control Arms with Balljoint built-in to it like the Skunk2? or is there something I can buy that's seperate? I originally had the ingalls but broke.. so I want to try another brand but not break the bank at the same time... any suggestions?

thx - btw.. this application is strictly for street use, so don't really need some hardcore 'off-road track' stuff... occaisionally.. i might go do some lapping.. but highly unlikely.. pls share some of your opinions.. thanks guys!

I use the Skunk2 upper control arms and I am very happy with them. They are durable, high-quality, reasonably priced, and easy to adjust. I have had mine for 3 years, moderate track use and only had to replace the ball joint in one side. Ingalls makes a great kit for the rear but the one for the front is a pain in the ass to adjust and is simply inferior to a camber kit that completely replaces the upper control arm. Omnipower makes a copy of the Skunk2 arms for a bit less but I have heard of issues with the bushings and I have personally had issues with their bushings in their other products, so I am weary to recommend their product.

About the rubbing, what size tires are you running and do you know what your camber is set at currently?

i used these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RHINO...spagenameZWDVWfor the last 10k miles they are the same as the skunk 2 but alot cheaper you will just want to pull the ball joint boots off and jam them full of grease. other then showing up dry they have been good for me.

I recommend an upper arm replacement instead of the ingalls-type kits. I used the Omni-Power ones but the bushings became squeaky after a few months. Spend the extra buck and get the skunk2's.

The skunk2 and omni's are made the exact same way from the same casting. (I've heard both arms have the same number stamped in them) the skunk2 pro version however is different and fixes some issues with the cheaper version.

Joe, on what basis are you making that recommendation to use the arms as opposed to the Ingalls type camber kits? Where are the bushings on the Omni Power kit? Maybe you're thinking of the LCAs?

Also, aren't there issued with the full camber arms hitting the shock tower whenever there is a lot of suspension compression? I've heard stories about these arms punching some pretty nasty dents (even making holes) in the shock towers because the end of the arm itself (being that it allows for camber adjustment by sliding the ball joint back and forth) is longer than the stock piece.

Any insight/experience on this?

I used the ingalls type kit on my Civic and they sucked balls trying to adjust, I used the Omni control arms on my Integra and they were soo much easier to adjust while aligning the car. Shit I confused them with my Omni front lower arms that squeaked, my bad.

I've also experienced some denting on the shock tower from the omni control arms hitting over bumps. I don't have pics though.

That's what has turned me off to the control arm-type camber kits...something about the structural integrity of the shock towers being compromised doesn't fly in my head...also the fact that in hard cornering (when suspension movement and geometry are key) there's the possibility of your suspension abruptly stopping its compression.
