I've had Kuhmo Ecsta's. I loved them but I moved to some Yokohama AVS ES100's and they're WAYYYYYYYYY better in any condition.

They're stickier and quieter too!

Ant what was the price difference?

Also did you have the engine bay painted in your car? Can you see the old paint color anywhere?

The Azenis are designed to be extremely sticky in the dry, passable in the wet, and that's it. They're loud, they ride rough, and they don't last too long. My kinda tire.

The Yokohamas are indeed nice. They're a good tire if you want above average roadholding, decent comfort and reasonable treadwear. Oh guess who told antarius to get em. This guy!

In the 205/50-15 size these are the more common "summer" tire choices:

BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KD - Excellent dry grip, very good wet*. Poor noise level, ride comfort, treadwear.

Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position - Excellent dry and wet traction. Fair noise level, poor ride comfort and fair treadwear.

Bridgestone Potenza RE730 Gen 2 - Very good dry and wet traction. Fair noise level, fair ride comfort, good treadwear.

Dunlop SP Sport 9000 - Very good dry traction, excellent rain traction. Good noise level, very good ride comfort, good treadwear.

Dunlop SP Sport 8000 - Very good dry traction, good wet traction. Fair noise level, ride, treadwear.

Falken Azenis - Excellent dry grip, very good wet*. Poor noise level, fair ride comfort and treadwear.

Kumho ECSTA Supra 712 - Good dry traction, good wet traction. Fair noise level and ride comfort. Good treadwear.

Yokohama AVS ES100 - Very good dry traction, very good wet traction. Good noise level, ride comfort and treadwear.

* = Although these tires have very good wet traction they do not resist hydroplaning very well.

Me personally, I'd pick the Azenis because they're so good and so cheap. Cost no object the g-Force KD's will out grip everything this side of an R-compound in the dry but they're twice the price of the Falkens.

I'm running Bridgestone RE730's 215/40/17. VERY good treadware rating for the level of dry grip they offer. I can definitely see why the h-t crowd went nuts over them when they first came out.

Falken Azenis are a cheap performance tire, but they have a much shorter tread life compared to the other tires listed. If you have money mount Azenis on some cheap lightweight 15"s as your competition wheel/tire, and get something with a higher tread-rating for use on the street. I cannot possibly imagine using Azenis in the rain (snow? ) but then again I don't know of anyone who runs them year-long in regions with inclimate weather.

Btw, did you see the results for STS at Nationals? Azenis own that class...

I did not paint the engine bay, but I'm thinking about having it done soon.
Only in the engine bay you can see dark / green paint.

The price difference was like $76 per tire for kuhmo's, to $89 a tire for the Yoko's... and it's a night and day difference.

I got mine for $192 shipped (2) from tirerack, discounttiredirect.com had them for like $180 shipped but they were unsure if they had two in stock.

Now it's time for two more.
