Default CEL Code 67

I checked my CEL and it's telling me code 67. I do know it means:

Catalyst system Efficiency Below Threshold malfunctioning or defective catalyst system

Does that mean the cat is malfunctioning? Does this mean I need to check the cat again?

You'll probably need to replace the cat because the secondary o2 sensor is reading high levels of emmisions coming out of the cat that shouldn't be.

If you want to get rid of the code for that high flow cat, you are going to either run an O2 simulator or convert to OBD1.

What is an O2 simulator? And why would I have to do do this?

It is pretty self explanatory. It simulates an O2 sensor signal to fool the computer into thinking everything is ok.

Since you are still running OBD2 and the cat you replaced the stock one with isn't sufficient, it will throw a code every time. OBD2 is picky, so you need to eliminate the secondary o2 sensor somehow to get rid of the code.

Ooohh....ok. No wonder I hear about OBD2 folks wanting to convert to OBD1.

What would I need to convert to OBDI?

An OBD2b (since it is a 01 GSR, correct?) to OBD1 conversion harness and a P72 ECU. You could use any vtec ECU but they won't be able to control the secondaries and a P28 board doesn't have knock sensor control.
