Default Touch up paint

Ok tomorrow i'm getting my touch up paint from acura. What i want to know about it is wet sanding. From my searching i found that i should use
•1500 Grit Sandpaper
•Rubbing Compound
•Orbital Buffer
•Microfiber towel
my question is, is this going to be safe on my clear coat?

I would recommend something higher like 2000 grit or even 2500. I used the 2500 on my dads accord yesterday to get out some paint scratches he had (not deep just on the surface). Then used some 3M compounds (medium- removes scratches 1200 grit and up & a fine polishing compound) with the orbital buffer to get it out. Now i'm not sure of the clearcoat as my dad's car is a 94 so I really didn't care so much as long as it looked nice lol. I would assume you're stripping off a little of the top layer clearcoat to get to the scratch but then you can follow up with a wax of some sort.

I thought touch-up paint is designed only for use in filling in small spots (i.e. chips) and not for larger areas where you would be sanding, etc....?

Well i was told when you use touch up paint that if you wet sand it, it will have a better end result. My car has alot of little dings and scratches. Thanks for the input.

I'm not sure about the paint thats on your car, but...

I used touch up paint with Milano Red and off the shelf clear coat, it came out decent. Milano Red has a hint of red or pink mixed in the clear coat, so it is somewhat noticable in reflective light but it looks better than the primer spots I had before. I plan on a full paint job soon, this was only a temp. cover up. You might try the same on yours, any clear > no clear at all.

I filled in the holes on my doors & 1\4 pannel, primered, and painted with generic touch up paint. Wet sanded starting with 1000 grit and slowly worked my way up to 3000. Then clear coated, sanded again and finished with rubbing compound & wax.

My camera broke last week, so I don't have any pictures to post.
