•1500 Grit Sandpaper
•Rubbing Compound
•Orbital Buffer
•Microfiber towel
my question is, is this going to be safe on my clear coat?
I would recommend something higher like 2000 grit or even 2500. I used the 2500 on my dads accord yesterday to get out some paint scratches he had (not deep just on the surface). Then used some 3M compounds (medium- removes scratches 1200 grit and up & a fine polishing compound) with the orbital buffer to get it out. Now i'm not sure of the clearcoat as my dad's car is a 94 so I really didn't care so much as long as it looked nice lol. I would assume you're stripping off a little of the top layer clearcoat to get to the scratch but then you can follow up with a wax of some sort.
