Default Shifter arm removal.

Anyone ever remove the shifter arm from the tranny? I have fluid leaking past that and I need to replace the boot, anyone know how to do this? According to this picture there isn't a seal around the arm.

How much fluid is leaking from the shifter arm?

I would be very hesitant to deal with it unless it was a large problem because you will have to remove the transmission and then crack open the case to get to anything.

There is an oil seal according to my Helms manual but I can't locate it on that diagram. Maybe you should call up the dealership and see if they stock the part.

The leak isn't THAT big, I'll wipe it one day and a week later it's wet. I'm going to drain and fill the tranny once I get to Honda when they're open to get some MTF and see what happens from there. Maybe if I throw new MTF in there the leak might slow down. I don't need this right now, I have my gf's birthday present to buy as well as my mom and dad's gift later this month, THEN Italy for 2 weeks mid June.

New tranny fluid will most likely not solve the problem. If it is a slow leak like you describe, I wouldn't worry about it. Like I said before, the amount of labor to replace that seal is incredible. It is easier to just top off the transmission every month or so to keep the fluid level up.

Where in Italy? It is so beautiful there minus the trash everywhere in the major cities.

I'll be near Caserta in the ankle part of the boot, going to go see my grandparents and the rest of my family, haven't seen them in a couple years.

Labor isn't a problem but I just don't see a worth in tearing apart the tranny at this point in time. Thanks meng.
