Automatic Transmission Woes
HELP! I lost an automatic transmission in a 97 Acura. Maximum slippage, thought it was dead, so I found a low mileage replacement and installed it. A week later, and it is slipping BAD. I used Dextron III because the manual said I could, now after reading the horror stories on the forum about using honda fluid only, I fear that I have trashed the replacement transmission.
1) How do I clean the solenoid screens? I intend to drain and refill it and clean the screens, and see if it is saveable - What do you think my odds are?
2) Is there anything else I can do? Used low mile automatics are hard to find, and I can't afford $2000 for a rebuild.
Help?!
Thanks in advance!

I honestly doubt the fluid killed your replacement tranny. The gear oil in my GSR is not Honda and the tranny is fine.
Did you replace the torque converter when you replaced the tranny? I'm thinking the problem is there.

Did u use a transmissiion fluid flusher to flush the transmission fluid the first time? If u did, try checking the connection between the cooler and the radiator line coz sometimes, theres a rubber connector that could get stuck in there. This rubber plugs your cooler line and thereby not allowing tranny fluid to get to the transmission. So no matter how many brand new tranny you put in, it will be toasted everytime.
