Default Automatic Transmission Woes

HELP! I lost an automatic transmission in a 97 Acura. Maximum slippage, thought it was dead, so I found a low mileage replacement and installed it. A week later, and it is slipping BAD. I used Dextron III because the manual said I could, now after reading the horror stories on the forum about using honda fluid only, I fear that I have trashed the replacement transmission.

1) How do I clean the solenoid screens? I intend to drain and refill it and clean the screens, and see if it is saveable - What do you think my odds are?

2) Is there anything else I can do? Used low mile automatics are hard to find, and I can't afford $2000 for a rebuild.
Help?!
Thanks in advance!
John
